Recipe for a fast food disaster

We've decided to pile the kids and all the stuff back into the van and head back to the tundra after all.  We are somewhere on the north side of Atlanta, presently 2544.8 miles into our trip, with probably 900 or so to go.

And while we're on the topic of "What were they thinking?", we stopped for lunch at a place we don't have at home, Chick-fil-A.  We've always loved the kids meal toys at at this place--always educational, healthy and family friendly.

But this time I'm afraid they've taken it a bit too far.  Looks interesting and harmless enough...

until you count the pieces...

...and read the instructions.  Yikes!  And they call this FAST food??!!  Can you imagine the meltdowns these puppies could cause?  (And that's just the PARENTS--there's also the disappointed kids to think of.)

Lucky for our kids.  Their parents are the Engineer and the Closure Queen.

For the longest time they had Duck For President book... i love that thing.

It's VERY cute for a preying mantis.

I guess it was something to keep you busy during the drive, right?
Good job!

The thing is you can trade the toy or object in this case (he he) in unopened for an ice cream cone. It is very good ice cream too. It's a cute little scary looking critter. Hugs, Bobbi Jo

yeah...there were a lot of steps...but don't get upset when that thing ends up at the bottom of the van and gets stepped on... :)

Hi! I thought I'd pop over for a visit. :) I love the pics of the kids in the van. Wow, they ARE surrounded! Your kids seem to be enjoying it though. hee hee

I agree...that does not look like the most 'kid friendly' toy to put in a kids meal - sheesh! You did a good job though I think I would have just thrown it away. You're a good mommy. :)

Have a wonderful 2009!

WOW! What a job but you did it! If we had received that - I believe I might have "accidently" thrown it away.

That is quite the kids meal toy!

Just stopping by from SITS to wish you a Happy New Year!

You put that thing together?? WOW! Good on you. So have you killed each other yet? That's a long road trip

Well now there's a perk over flying - on a plane, you just get peanuts!

Now you've made me want some chicken...it's 12:28am - chicken is unlikely.

Praying for your safe return! The roads are terrible here tonight so be careful. Rain/snow mix - very icy. See you Tues!

No way, no way on so many things here! No way am I DRIVING that far (unless it is the White Mountians, cause that is worth it), and no way would I have put that together for the kids.

I have Never heard of that place. What state is that in?

I bet the oversized insect on the dashboard got some curious stares from other cars on the road.

Oh my goodness we just got two of those today! I am bringing them to you for your expertise! blessings, marlene

Definitely looks like you need an engineer to manufacture that particular restaurant craft!!!

Chick Fil A is our favorite.
We haven't seen the praying mantis engineering guide. What's up with that. Anyway, I can't believe you put that together in the car going down the road. I would have gotten car sick with all those directions and little pieces.
That picture of the kids in the back with all the stuff is a classic. I can't believe you all drove that far either. I can't get Buster to drive us anywhere. He'd fly to south Houston if he could keep from driving.
