Table Talk

Tonight we sat down to a ham dinner.

Bethany: Mom, do they HAVE to kill the pig?
Ben: The pigs are eventually gonna die anyway.
Bethany (to me): Is that true??
Ben: Sure, and then they go to hog heaven.

I wonder how many harmonious omnivorous families have been divided over the story of Charlotte's Web.

I had so much trouble with this concept when I was little. Now I see my nieces and nephews saying, "We had two bulls! Greg is still out there in that paddock and Alex is in our freezer!!" ... peals of laughter ...

Somehow, my kids were always able to separate Wilbur from the ham on their plates. But I have to say we did have a little bit of a problem when Bambi's mother died...Hey, congrats on your Vikings win today. Brett's 4 TD passes were pretty awesome...The Pack tried to lose today, but they pulled it out in the end. Thank goodness!

Tracy, I love it Hog Heaven!
Too cute.
Leah has an affinity to pigs. One day Leah told us that she was never going to eat a pig (as she was stuffing ham into her mouth) I think she only thought bacon came from pigs. We all tried not to laugh because she was so serious and didn't have the heart to tell her she was eating pig.
