How I got hooked

DSC_7025

As I hear Bethany's bus go by,
I hurry to the window.

It's my favorite moment of the day
to watch her
being her.

This time, instead of coming in

she grabs a shovel

and goes to work.

Unaware that I grab a camera
and go to work.

Blissful work.

My friend Kate asked me the other day
how I got hooked on taking pictures.

I thought of the years lived overseas.
Of the scrapbooking kick begun before I was even married.

But today I realized
THIS is how I got hooked.
It's the series that tells the whole story.
Love.

Pictures that tell a story are my most favorite kind! I love this series. She is the most fun child! I love that she just picked up a shovel and got right to work!

And you take them so well! Loved this! Shows how sweet and innocent she still is.

How I wish I had pictures like these of my children to share with them now that they are grown. Preserving childhood is important and pictures can do it. There are so few pictures of me..they couldn't have afforded it...and my memories are slipping away as I get older. These will be treasures. blessings, marlene

Bethany is a delight! I love this whole candid series - especially the ones with all the snow flying around her! :-D

What wonderful pictures! You give me hope that I can remember a camera more often, and remember to snap more memories!

Wow; these are wonderful shots! They are crisp and clear, and you've captured some great expressions.

I love your photos, but this Queenslander is shocked by the concept of wearing 3/4 length leggings in the snow!?!!! I'm cold just looking at it. (which is an effort, given that it's summer here)

Funny, Jen! It was a relatively "warm" day--warm sun and she was dressed for it otherwise. Some kids wear shorts all winter here, and the topic of conversation among moms is how they can't get their sons to wear a jacket. But I was thinking the exact same thing as I watched her. I try to bury those leggings but she finds them.
