Recovering from a Tom Thumb stupor

We've been having a ball around here with Lee's parents in town. I'll post pictures of them later, but here's a little taste of the fair. We haven't been there in a couple of years, and I missed it!

Partly because these things...

...are a little taste of heaven...

...in a sack!
YUMMM!

And this guy had the nerve to get in the way of a great picture of my father-in-law (back on the left). He is a Minnesota icon. Eating a Pronto Pup. Because that's the way it should be. Does anyone NOT from Minnesota know who he is? If you are from MN, feel free to give me a hint that you know. ;-)

Those Tom Thumbs looks super yummy. I want a bag or two.

I'm not sure who this guy is, but he looks like Jack Nicholson. Is that intentional?

Other fair trivia for you. Did you know I grew up in Showtown USA. Yes, it's where the carnies come for the winter in FL. Lived right down the street from the 5 legged cow and the hairless dog.

I'm not from MN but it wasn't long after I got here that I got to know him. A week after I arrived in the state, my first day of work at Medtronic was, coincidentally, their 50th anniversary party. The Lake Woebegon storyteller was the guest speaker. It was a great first day! Before that I had never heard of him. That is so cool that you saw him at the fair (and snapped a pic of him too!).

Who cares about 'GK'? YOU HAD TOM THUMB DONUTS???? I haven't thought about them for years. Used to smell them and eat them at the Cattle Congress. Yes, Cattle Congress was our local fair and we had no school on the Friday in Sept. during Cattle Congress because it was Kids' Day. I can smell the donuts, the cows, the puke on the rides...

'GK' was at Ocean Grove, NJ a few years ago when we were there. We could not get tickets. The place we stayed was about a block away. We could hear the crowd laughing and the music and the rain pitterpattering on the roof of the tent. Was almost as fun as being there.

Is 'GK' holding the sad remains of a corn dog in his left hand? You're killing me here.

Not just any corn dog. A PRONTO PUP! Which I am definitely having next year. I know GK would never settle for anything other than the real thing.

Garrison Keillor... and the hint nailed it for me. Not bad for a Massachusetts girl. Do I get a bag of donuts for guessing right lol..

I love seeing the regional foods at fairs.

Our local fairs start soon..cant wait.

I've always loved the fair, donuts, and, of course, Garrison Keillor! Also, hosting wild animals on my blog. Got a real turkey of a post today for Sx3!

Even after seeing the answer in the comments, I have no idea who he is. But, gosh, those donut thingies look yummy and the picture of you with your darling kiddos is adorable (I love how your daughter strikes a pose!).

OMG! A REAL Pronto Pup! Now I know what I missed at the fair. We always used to go when I was a kid. My mom worked and our sitter,a widow with older kids, made us Pronto Pups. I checked out their website and you can buy the mix. Only comes is a 5# box, tho. And even us Cheeseheads know your Corn Dog Connissoeur! Maybe it's because I'm Scandinavian. Thanks for stopping by, too.
