I don't recommend this

DSC_9433

It all started when Lee took me on a date

for lunch and dessert
on Valentine's Day.
(I TOTALLY recommend that!)

Bethany had asked him what he was going to do for me
and when he told her, she suggested that
we could maybe bring a little something home.

The sprinkles reminded me that

I had some at home, and also the ingredients for cake balls.
Red velvet, no less.
(I may have mentioned before that I have a bit of a thing for sprinkles.)
I had been putting off making them since before Christmas,
because they are SO time consuming!
But Bethany had wanted them.

So we left the expensive French desserts at the cafe
(except for a little bit of leftovers from our own),
and I went home and took my stuff out.
(Can I just say that red velvet cake batter makes me a little uneasy?)

SEVERAL hours later they were done.

Bethany helped me cut out the heart shapes.
That was about it.
I got nothing else done that day.

Bakerella, you wooed me again with your tantalizing cuteness.

You and the sprinkles, that is.

Sunday Scavenger Hunt

I'm quite excited.  This week is my first photo challenge since I ended my 2011 Photo-A-Day (365) project.  It's been nice to not feel pressured to just take a picture, but this year I am eager to have some inspiration for pictures I never would have thought of.  Ashley Sisk at Ramblings and Photos has a weekly challenge called Sunday Scavenger Hunt, with five assigned themes to interpret through the lens.  Very fun way to stretch my skills and be inspired by what others do with the same themes.

1.  Facial feature

My dimple.  No one else in my family has it.  I only have one.

2.  Shadow

3.  Spicy

Lee suggested this.  He said that here in the upper midwest it's as spicy as we get.  What to do?

4.  Gold

This huge mural is prominently displayed on the front corner of the city hall of the suburb where I grew up.  I seldom drive by, but when I did this past week, the diversity in it (this is just a small portion) really struck me.  It really does represent the community today, but sure wouldn't have back in my day.  Kinda cool.

5.  Fabric

SLOWLY making progress on Bethany's quilt.  Time to make the final push!!
