Shine

DSC_8402c

One of the attributes of God that brings me joy is the fact that he is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.  If we humans can, even for a moment, escape the fact that we are surrounded by darkness, it is probably because we ourselves are walking around with our eyes closed.  So I love the fact that we have the choice available to us to live in God's light, and even to shine it to those around us.

That said, these verses have haunted me lately.  I love them.  We sing them.  Well, at least the LAST one.  I want so much to shine like a star as I hold out the word of life to those around me.

But I think Paul was making a bigger point here.  An inconvenient truth, if you will.  Words of life don't exactly ring out loud and clear within a cacophony of complaining and arguing.  If I want people to hear, and see, and notice that which gives life through their interaction with me, I need to do everything without complaining or arguing.  Plain and simple.  But not easy.

This week, may I shine.  This week, may you shine.  And when we don't, there is grace, and another chance.

Did you take that shot? That's truly amazing. And your words are perfect.

And JUST what I needed to read this morning.

Thanks ladies. Yes, I took it with a long exposure and a tripod. Ben is my star-maker. Pretty good I thought! I did not get nearly as many shots as I had hoped because there were other more entertaining fireworks. I have a ton of sparklers, and would love to have a sparkler photographing party. Think anyone would come? :-) The possibilities are endless!
