Can I get a witness?

Nothing encourages me to stay the course in my faith like seeing God at work doing what only he can do. Especially when He reaches down and changes a life.

A really cool thing happened this week over at Mama Kat's. Just in case you don't know her, she is a special blogger with a huge following. One day when I was new at blogging, I received a comment from her on my latest post. She made a kind comment about it, and told me she saw a comment I left over at some other blog. So I went to visit her, and was hooked immediately by her disarming honesty and humor. She is colorful, and not always rated G, but she is real, and you can't help but love her family and her sincerity. She makes me laugh until I snort sometimes.

Kathy's readership has grown by leaps and bounds since then, but she still pops in on me every so often, and replies to my comments sometimes by email. We've had some fun conversations, and you could say we are friends. Mind you, she has a gajillion friends. But that's the point--she has relationships with her readers, and she has earned their trust.

Every week Kathy has a feature called "Writer's Workshop" that has caught on like wildfire. She was an English teacher in her former life, so she comes up with assignments for people to blog about, and then she stops by with her red pen. Well, she used to until way too many people started participating every week. Anyway, this week one of the prompts was to write about a "God Moment". On the due date Kathy wrote about her God moment. It took her two days to tell the whole story of her journey of faith, where she was having such difficulty finding God through a number of tragic circumstances, but He reached out and found her. Kathy references her faith every once in awhile, but this week she laid it on the line for all to see. Not in a preachy way. In a beautiful way.

This week dozens of readers responded to what Kathy wrote, and many of them expressed that they were longing for an encounter with God like that--that maybe this was just the nudge they needed to open themselves up to the possibility that God wants to reach out and embrace them too. It absolutely gave me goosebumps.

Go read part 1, and part 2, and their comments. Praise our God, who is actively seeking and saving the lost (Luke 19:10).

"From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him, and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.'" Acts 17: 26-28a

I'll head over and read her blog.
That is awesome that she has touched so many thru her post about her relationship with Christ.

Love that Acts scripture.
I pray many reach out for Him.

Wow Tracy! Thank you so much for all those nice words...an ENTIRE post!! I already mentioned to you how difficult it was to choose that writing prompt and commit to writing it. Religion is such a touchy subject with people and I try to keep the blog from becoming a forum of debate. That's not what I want. But I knew I had to write it...and it's people like you that make me glad I did. :)

Oh and thanks for warning everyone that I'm not always rated G! I don't want people coming over and stumbling into a post that might offend them without proper warning.

Thanks for your support!

I went over and read her story and now I still have tears in my eyes! What an amazing story!! To be spoken to so directly from God. I love reading about what God can do in someone´s life, if they open their heart to him.
Thanks for sharing that!
